The University of Benin (UNIBEN), a prestigious federal university founded in 1970, is seeking a dedicated and accomplished academic to join our Department of Social Sciences as a Lecturer I in Economics. In this role, you will play a vital part in delivering high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate instruction, fostering an engaging learning environment, and contributing to the institution's vibrant research community.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver comprehensive lectures, seminars, and tutorials in Economics for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Develop and update course curricula in alignment with modern economic theories and industry standards.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student research projects, dissertations, and theses.
- Conduct high-impact research and publish scholarly articles in reputable peer-reviewed academic journals.
- Participate in departmental, faculty, and university committee meetings as well as community development initiatives.
- Mentor and advise students on academic progress, career development, and professional ethics.
- A PhD in Economics or a Master's degree in Economics with a minimum of three (3) years of tertiary teaching experience.
- A minimum of three (3) peer-reviewed academic publications in recognized journals.
- A First Degree in Economics or a related discipline with a minimum of a Second-Class Upper Division; or a Second-Class Lower Division with a completed PhD.
- Demonstrated expertise in economic analysis, quantitative methods, or specialized sub-fields of Economics.
