About the Role

Heritage Energy Operational Services Limited is the operator of the flagship OML 30 asset in the Niger Delta, committed to exploring underappreciated basins responsibly and sustainably. We are currently seeking a dynamic and technically proficient Lead Well Drilling Engineer to join our Technical department in Nigeria. In this pivotal role, you will lead detailed well planning, engineering design, and technical coordination for drilling and completion operations, ensuring full compliance with HSE and regulatory standards while driving cost efficiency and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead comprehensive well planning, trajectory design, and well construction engineering for drilling and completion activities.
  • Perform critical engineering calculations including hydraulics modeling, torque and drag analysis, cementing volumes, and casing design using industry-standard software.
  • Prepare detailed drilling programs, cost estimates (AFE), and technical scopes of work while monitoring daily well execution.
  • Provide real-time operational support to rig sites, collaborating closely with drilling supervisors, contractors, and service companies.
  • Analyze operational performance, track Non-Productive Time (NPT), and document lessons learned to continuously optimize future well delivery.
  • Mentor junior engineers, review technical work, and serve as a trusted technical focal point during assigned projects.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 6 to 8 years of relevant experience in well engineering and drilling operations, with specific expertise in land and swamp environments.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in land drilling campaigns.
  • Proficiency in drilling engineering software packages such as the Landmark Suite (Compass, StressCheck) or Sysdrill.
  • Strong understanding of drilling hydraulics, well integrity modelling, NPT analysis, and tender technical evaluations.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills with a strong commitment to HSE standards.
