About the Role
The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) Abuja is a state-of-the-art 500-bed specialty hospital offering world-class comprehensive diagnostics and treatment in oncology, cardiovascular care, haematological care, and general medical services. Developed by Afreximbank in clinical partnership with Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, we are seeking an experienced Lead Pathologist to oversee our diagnostic pathology services and drive innovation in patient-centered healthcare.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert pathology services across histopathology, cytopathology, and molecular pathology to ensure timely and accurate diagnostic reporting.
- Implement and monitor rigorous laboratory quality management systems in compliance with national and international accreditation standards.
- Lead the adoption of advanced diagnostic protocols and technologies while driving departmental research and educational initiatives.
- Mentor, supervise, and train junior pathologists and laboratory staff to foster a culture of professional excellence and continuous growth.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical teams, including oncologists and surgeons, to support comprehensive patient care planning.
- Participate in departmental strategic planning, budgeting, and advanced equipment procurement alongside hospital leadership.
- Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution with a valid medical license to practice in Nigeria.
- Board certification in Pathology with postgraduate training and significant subspecialty exposure.
- Minimum of 10 years of post-fellowship experience in diagnostic pathology.
- Demonstrated expertise in histopathology, cytopathology, and molecular pathology.
- Proven knowledge of laboratory quality management systems, regulatory compliance, and laboratory information systems.
