About the Role
The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) Abuja is a premier 500-bed specialty hospital offering world-class diagnostics and treatment in oncology, cardiovascular, and haematological care. Developed by Afreximbank in clinical partnership with Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, we are expanding our pioneering team and seeking a visionary Lead Pathologist to direct our advanced diagnostic pathology services. In this crucial role, you will deliver exceptional patient-centred care, drive innovation, and mentor the next generation of medical professionals across Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert diagnostic pathology services across histopathology, cytopathology, and molecular pathology to support high-quality patient care.
- Collaborate closely with oncologists, surgeons, and physicians within multidisciplinary care planning teams.
- Implement and monitor laboratory quality management systems and maintain strict compliance with national and international accreditation standards.
- Lead the adoption of cutting-edge diagnostic technologies, methodologies, and clinical research initiatives.
- Supervise, mentor, and train junior pathologists and laboratory staff to foster a culture of professional excellence.
- Participate in departmental strategic planning, resource allocation, and advanced equipment procurement.
- Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- Board certification in Pathology with a valid medical license to practice in Nigeria.
- Minimum of 10 years of post-fellowship experience in diagnostic pathology with substantial subspecialty exposure.
- Demonstrated expertise in histopathology, cytopathology, and molecular pathology.
- Proven track record in laboratory quality management, regulatory compliance, and advanced diagnostic systems.
