About the Role

Propetrol Limited is a premier indigenous energy solutions provider and petroleum products marketing firm headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria. We are currently looking for a dynamic and driven Lead, Bunker Trading to originate and execute bunker trading opportunities, develop key client and supplier relationships, and contribute directly to our trading volumes and profitability. Working closely with the Head of Bunker Trading, you will identify profitable prospects, negotiate commercial terms, and coordinate reliable product deliveries within approved risk limits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and pursue profitable bunker trading opportunities across assigned maritime markets.
  • Develop and nurture strong relationships with shipowners, vessel operators, brokers, and suppliers.
  • Negotiate commercial terms, assess supplier quotations, and execute spot and term transactions.
  • Monitor bunker prices, vessel movements, and market developments to inform trading strategies.
  • Review trade economics, manage account growth, and meet agreed volume and margin targets.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external agents to ensure timely delivery against strict specifications.
  • Support counterparty screening, credit assessments, and collaborate with Finance on receivables.
  • Ensure all commercial activities comply with applicable regulations, sanctions, and internal policies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Maritime Studies, or Engineering.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in bunker trading, marine fuel sales, or commodities trading.
  • Demonstrated success in originating transactions and achieving commercial targets.
  • Strong understanding of bunker products, pricing mechanisms, and shipping logistics.
  • Established network within the global bunkering or maritime shipping industry is a distinct advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, trading platforms, and CRM systems.
  • Exceptional commercial judgment, negotiation skills, and high professional integrity.
