About the Role
Blue Coral Healthcare Services (BCHS) is a leading limited liability healthcare provider incorporated in March 2017 to deliver affordable, accessible, and world-class medical services in a warm, welcoming environment. We are currently seeking a dedicated and qualified Laboratory Scientist to join our medical laboratory operations team and contribute to our mission of excellence in patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine and specialist analytical testing on a diverse range of biological samples and body fluids.
- Examine and analyze specimens to identify bacteria, parasites, and other microorganisms.
- Analyze chemical reactions to determine concentrations of compounds such as blood glucose and cholesterol levels.
- Identify blood groups and perform cross-matching procedures for safe blood transfusions.
- Monitor patient responses to medication by testing biological reactions to treatment.
- Operate and maintain sophisticated laboratory equipment, including microscopes and automated cell counters.
- Relay accurate, timely results to medical staff to facilitate effective patient diagnosis and treatment.
- Maintain comprehensive records, write detailed reports, and assist in updating laboratory standard operating procedures.
- Support quality management systems by adhering strictly to ISO and relevant healthcare accreditation standards.
- Observe all health and safety regulations while mentoring trainee scientists and support staff.
- Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) or Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS).
- Minimum of two (2) years of post-qualification clinical laboratory experience across multiple departments.
- Current registration or eligibility for membership with the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN) and a valid practicing license.
- Strong working knowledge of laboratory information systems and advanced IT skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical aptitude, and a meticulous, systematic approach to tasks.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
