About the Role
The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) Abuja is a premier 500-bed specialty hospital delivering world-class diagnostics and treatment in oncology, cardiovascular care, haematology, and general medical and surgical services. Developed by Afreximbank in partnership with Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, we are expanding our critical care team and seeking a dedicated Junior Consultant - Intensivist to provide exceptional, evidence-based care.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the Consultant Anaesthetist in leading daily multidisciplinary ICU rounds and implementing evidence-based care plans.
- Independently manage a defined caseload of critically ill patients, including those with severe sepsis, ARDS, and multi-organ failure.
- Perform invasive procedures such as central venous catheterization, arterial line insertion, and endotracheal intubation under supervision.
- Lead rapid response teams and code blue events while demonstrating advanced life support proficiency.
- Communicate effectively with patients and families, providing clear clinical updates and participating in family meetings.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and the mentorship of junior medical staff and residents.
- Medical Degree (MD or equivalent) from an accredited institution with a valid medical license.
- Certification in Critical Care Medicine via a fellowship or postgraduate diploma.
- Board certification or residency completion in Internal Medicine, Anaesthesiology, Emergency Medicine, or Pulmonary Medicine.
- Minimum of 1 to 3 years of post-fellowship experience in critical care environments.
- Proficiency in advanced airway management, point-of-care ultrasound, and mechanical ventilation management.
