About the Role
The African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) Abuja, developed by Afreximbank in clinical partnership with King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, is seeking a talented Junior Consultant - Emergency Medicine. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional, evidence-based emergency care to patients of all ages, lead critical resuscitations, and contribute to the clinical and operational excellence of our state-of-the-art 500-bed specialty hospital.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the initial assessment, stabilization, and management of critically ill or injured patients adhering to advanced life support protocols.
- Perform advanced emergency procedures independently, including airway management, central line insertion, and point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS).
- Provide direct clinical supervision, bedside teaching, and mentorship to medical officers, nursing staff, and junior medical personnel.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient flow, reduce waiting times, and manage emergency department operations efficiently.
- Participate actively in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and morbidity and mortality reviews to maintain high standards of patient safety.
- Medical degree (MBBS/MD or equivalent) from a recognized institution with completion of an accredited Emergency Medicine residency.
- Minimum of 1 to 4 years of post-fellowship experience in a fast-paced emergency department environment.
- Valid board certification or equivalent qualification in Emergency Medicine.
- Current certifications in ACLS, ATLS, PALS, and BLS.
- Demonstrated expertise in advanced emergency procedures and POCUS.
