About the Role
Resurgir Consulting is partnering with a dynamic educational institution in Lagos to recruit a talented and dedicated Home Economics / Fashion Design & Garment Making Teacher. In this role, you will shape the creative minds of junior secondary students by imparting essential life skills and foundational vocational training. We are looking for an educator who can seamlessly blend theoretical knowledge with exciting practical sessions, ensuring students develop a genuine passion for craftsmanship, creativity, and self-reliance.
Key Responsibilities- Teach Home Economics to junior-class students in alignment with the approved academic curriculum.
- Design and deliver engaging practical lessons in Fashion Design and Garment Making.
- Instruct students on basic sewing techniques, garment construction, fabric handling, precise measurements, and neat finishing.
- Develop comprehensive lesson plans, instructional materials, creative assignments, and hands-on practical activities.
- Assess, monitor, and document students' academic progress and practical skill development.
- Foster a positive, encouraging, and disciplined classroom environment that stimulates student creativity.
- Ensure the proper handling, maintenance, and safety of all sewing machines, equipment, and laboratory materials.
- Participate actively in school meetings, professional development training, and school-wide extracurricular activities.
- Possession of a Bachelor's Degree (BSc/BEd) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Home Economics, Fashion Design, Education, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years of proven teaching experience in a recognized school environment.
- Demonstrated expertise and strong practical skills in garment construction, sewing, and general home economics.
- Exceptional classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
