About the Role
Ascentech Services Limited is looking for a dedicated and analytical IT Security Intern to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will work closely with our Security and IT departments to monitor network activities, manage user access, deploy system updates, and safeguard critical company assets. This position is specifically designed as a hands-on learning opportunity for a focused female graduate eager to launch her career in the cybersecurity industry.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor networks, systems, and applications for any suspicious activities, security alerts, and potential breaches.
- Manage user access control, including account creation, password resets, and periodic access reviews.
- Deploy crucial security patches, software updates, and antivirus definitions across company machines.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of hardware, software assets, and IT licenses.
- Troubleshoot and resolve basic hardware, software, network, and security-related issues.
- Assist with incident investigations by gathering and analyzing technical logs.
- Promote cybersecurity awareness among staff regarding phishing prevention, strong passwords, and safe data handling.
- Provide reliable onsite helpdesk support to employees as needed.
- Minimum of a B.Sc., B.Tech, or HND in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related IT disciplines.
- Must be a female candidate who has successfully completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme.
- Fresh graduate with 0 to 1 year of foundational experience in IT support or cybersecurity.
- Basic technical understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS), operating systems (Windows and Linux), firewalls, and encryption tools.
- Strong communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a sharp analytical mindset for problem-solving.
