About the Role
Bistar Limited is a multidisciplinary engineering and environmental services firm dedicated to optimizing energy assets and delivering sustainable infrastructure solutions across Nigeria. We are currently seeking a competent, practical, and field-oriented In-House Geologist to join our dynamic technical team. This is a hands-on position requiring the successful candidate to spend significant time at project sites, personally operating geological and survey equipment, monitoring drilling operations, interpreting subsurface data, and authoring comprehensive professional reports.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct geological and hydrogeological field investigations, site reconnaissance, and subsurface assessments.
- Monitor drilling activities and accurately identify, describe, and document subsurface formations encountered.
- Prepare detailed lithological and borehole logs from drilling samples, cuttings, and field observations.
- Carry out or supervise borehole logging, well inspection, and downhole camera surveys.
- Collect, label, and document soil, rock, cutting, and water samples for laboratory analysis.
- Interpret geological, logging, inspection, and survey data to translate findings into practical engineering recommendations.
- Maintain accurate field notes, photographs, coordinates, depth records, and project documentation.
- Contribute geological input to technical proposals, tenders, methodologies, and client presentations.
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Applied Geology, Geoscience, or a closely related discipline.
- 3 to 7 years of relevant practical experience in field geology, hydrogeology, or geotechnical investigations.
- Demonstrable experience personally operating GPS, geological logging, and downhole survey equipment.
- Exceptional technical writing skills with the ability to compile detailed geological reports and logs.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities and the ability to work independently at remote project locations.
- Valid professional certifications or relevant postgraduate qualifications will be an added advantage.
