About the Role

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Import Assistant to join our dynamic team in Nigeria and play a vital role in our growing import operations. In this position, you will help drive the seamless movement of goods across international borders while ensuring strict regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the end-to-end import process, ensuring full compliance with Nigerian customs laws, international trade regulations, and import licensing requirements.
- Manage, verify, and process essential import documentation including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and customs declarations.
- Coordinate closely with customs brokers, shipping lines, and regulatory authorities to expedite clearance operations and minimize demurrage costs.
- Monitor shipment schedules in real-time, track inbound cargo, and communicate proactively with internal teams and clients regarding delivery timelines.
- Maintain standardized processes to improve overall customs clearance efficiency and support accurate inventory management.
- Assist with landed cost calculations, foreign exchange awareness, and basic trade finance procedures such as letters of credit.
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 0 to 3 years of hands-on experience in import operations, freight forwarding, or general logistics.
- Solid understanding of import documentation, shipping operations across sea, air, and road, and procurement processes.
- Familiarity with international trade agreements, restricted goods regulations, and import compliance standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite with strong data management and analytical skills.
