About the Role
Dangote Group, Africa's leading diversified business conglomerate, is looking for a dedicated and experienced Hydra Operator to join our dynamic team in Lagos, Nigeria. In this role, you will play a vital part in our manufacturing, logistics, and maintenance operations by ensuring the safe and efficient handling of materials and heavy equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Operate hydra cranes and mobile lifting equipment to lift, transport, and position materials, machinery, and plant components securely.
- Perform comprehensive pre-operational equipment inspections, checking hydraulic systems, boom assemblies, brakes, and safety devices daily.
- Execute lifting activities strictly in accordance with approved lifting plans, load charts, and supervisory instructions.
- Assess load weight, radius, and ground conditions to guarantee maximum stability and safe placement.
- Coordinate seamlessly with riggers, banksmen, and other team members using standard hand signals and communication protocols.
- Report equipment defects, malfunctions, or safety hazards promptly to the maintenance team.
- Maintain absolute compliance with Permit-to-Work (PTW) protocols, PPE usage, and all corporate HSE policies.
- National Diploma (ND) in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering, or relevant Trade Test Grade I, II, and III certifications.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience operating hydra or mobile cranes within a heavy manufacturing, cement, petrochemical, or industrial environment.
- Valid Hydra Crane Operator or Mobile Crane Operator certification is strongly preferred.
- Additional certifications in Banksman/Rigger awareness, HSE levels, and defensive driving are an added advantage.
