About the Role
NLNG Ship Management Limited (NSML) is a leading international maritime services company committed to delivering top-notch shipping solutions. We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Human Resources and Industrial Relations Officer to join our professional team in Nigeria and contribute to our ongoing success in the maritime sector.
Key Responsibilities- Promote harmonious relationships between the company and industrial unions, regulatory bodies, and associations such as NIMASA, ITF, ILO, and MWUN.
- Initiate periodic reviews of Shipboard Officers' Conditions of Service in alignment with collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) and international maritime standards.
- Monitor Nigerian rating manpower services and actively participate in collective bargaining processes with relevant authorities.
- Evaluate staff performance, investigate grievances, prepare disciplinary case files, and implement management decisions.
- Gather global maritime and shipping industry intelligence to recommend strategic mitigating measures to management.
- Ensure equitable application of ILO laws, Merchant Navy Code of Conduct, and training agreements.
- Manage third-party manpower service providers and conduct periodic employee engagement surveys.
- Possess a university first degree with a minimum of a Second-Class Upper (2:1) Division.
- Hold a recognized professional HR certification such as CIPM, CIPD, SHRM, or equivalent.
- Demonstrate 5 to 7 years of post-graduation HR experience within a unionized environment.
- Prior cognate experience in the Maritime, Oil and Gas, FMCG, or Logistics industry is a strong advantage.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of labour laws, dispute resolution strategies, and collective bargaining.
