We are currently seeking a proactive and experienced HSSE Officer to join our team in Benin. In this vital role, you will champion our commitment to maintaining a safe, secure, and environmentally sustainable workplace. You will lead the health, safety, security, and environment function, protecting personnel, assets, and the environment through robust management systems, meticulous risk assessments, and proactive compliance strategies.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and coordinate the comprehensive HSSE management system across designated operational areas.
- Conduct and oversee rigorous risk assessments, regular workplace inspections, and compliance audits.
- Develop, update, and implement effective HSSE policies, standard operating procedures, and staff training programs.
- Lead prompt incident prevention, thorough investigation, and accurate statutory reporting.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness drills, physical security protocols, and sustainable environmental management practices.
- Ensure strict adherence to all applicable Nigerian HSSE regulations, industry standards, and company guidelines.
- Supervise, mentor, and foster the professional development of junior HSSE personnel.
- Bachelor's degree or HND in a relevant discipline such as Environmental/Health Sciences, Safety, Engineering, or related Physical Sciences.
- Mandatory completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) or presentation of a valid exemption certificate.
- Substantial professional experience in HSSE roles, including supervisory or senior operational exposure.
- Demonstrated expertise in risk assessment methodologies, incident management, and safety systems implementation.
- Strong working knowledge of regulatory compliance and emergency-preparedness planning.
