About the Role
African Foundries Limited (AFL) is a leading steel manufacturing company dedicated to making Nigeria self-reliant in steel rebars. We are currently seeking a proactive and detail-oriented HSE Officer to join our dynamic team and champion our commitment to maintaining a safe, hazard-free working environment.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate comprehensive HSE training programs to maintain high awareness and preparedness across all organizational sections.
- Lead thorough incident investigations, identify root causes, and recommend effective preventive actions against recurrence.
- Prepare detailed weekly and periodic HSE reports, highlighting unsafe acts, workplace conditions, and contractor management activities.
- Develop specific safety audit checklists for factory units and lead audit teams to engage employees in safe practices.
- Manage contractor safety compliance, ensuring valid permits and safe working systems are utilized at all times.
- Enforce strict compliance with Health, Safety, and Environment policies to achieve our zero-accident target.
- Mitigate financial losses, injuries, and environmental hazards by proactively monitoring critical machinery and equipment.
- BSc or HND in Safety Management, Occupational Health, or a related discipline.
- 3 to 5 years of proven professional experience as an HSE Officer or Safety Manager within the manufacturing sector.
- Comprehensive understanding of local and international legal health and safety guidelines.
- Strong proficiency in data analysis, risk assessment, and safety report writing.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and motivational skills with the ability to manage diverse teams.
