About the Role
Ascentech Services Limited is seeking a proactive and experienced HSE Officer to support the implementation and maintenance of effective Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards across our client operations in Nigeria. In this vital role, you will champion a strong safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, and mitigate operational risks in a dynamic working environment.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive HSE policies, procedures, and manuals in compliance with Nigerian labor and environmental laws.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses, preparing detailed root-cause analysis reports and preventative recommendations.
- Facilitate comprehensive HSE training sessions, inductions, and safety tool-box talks for all employees and contractors.
- Maintain accurate documentation, incident logs, and compliance records for internal audits and regulatory authorities.
- Coordinate emergency response drills and ensure all safety equipment is properly maintained and accessible.
- Bachelor Degree or HND in Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related discipline.
- Possession of relevant professional HSE certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or equivalent is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant HSE experience within a manufacturing, construction, industrial, or operational environment.
- Thorough understanding of local HSE legislation, standards, risk assessment methodologies, and emergency response procedures.
- Exceptional communication, analytical, and report-writing skills with high attention to detail.
