About the Role
Romson Oil Field Services Limited, an indigenous oil and gas servicing firm founded in 1989 and a prominent member of the Tropical General Investments (TGI) Group, is seeking a dedicated and proactive HSE Officer. We deliver specialized engineering, maintenance, and chemical solutions across onshore, offshore, and deep-water environments. In this critical role, you will be responsible for safeguarding our personnel, assets, and environment by enforcing strict compliance with TGI Group HSE standards and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities- Develop comprehensive HSE plans, policies, and safe work procedures while coordinating risk assessments and job hazard analyses.
- Perform regular safety audits, workplace inspections, and facility checks on machinery and equipment to identify and correct potential hazards.
- Coordinate responses to HSE emergencies and conduct routine drills, such as fire drills, to ensure optimal functionality of emergency systems and staff readiness.
- Enforce compliance with HSE management systems among employees, contractors, and subcontractors across assigned business units.
- Facilitate safety meetings, toolbox talks, inductions, and targeted HSE training sessions while providing technical advice and mentorship.
- Investigate industrial accidents, near misses, and injuries to determine root causes, establish trends, and implement preventive measures.
- Monitor the usage and issuance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensure weekly testing and readiness of firefighting systems.
- Handle community-related issues, prepare HSE requirements for bids, and maintain robust HSE communication systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of proven HSE experience within the oil and gas, marine, or heavy engineering sector.
- Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent HSE qualifications are strictly required.
- In-depth knowledge of Nigerian environmental and safety laws, ISO standards, and permit-to-work procedures.
