About the Role
Eye Foundation Hospital, Nigeria's premier indigenous specialist eye care institution since 1993, is looking for a detail-oriented Housekeeper to join our dedicated support team. In this vital role, you will ensure our healthcare facilities remain impeccably clean, sanitized, and welcoming for all patients, families, and staff, directly contributing to our mission of fighting preventable blindness and delivering world-class medical care.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine and emergency cleaning of hospital wards, waiting areas, and specialized facilities.
- Safely dispose of general waste and hazardous medical waste, including syringes, gloves, and face masks, in strict compliance with hospital protocols.
- Sanitize surfaces contaminated with blood or other body fluids using approved disinfectants.
- Dust furniture, clean windows, wipe floors, and maintain all areas using standard hospital cleaning equipment.
- Collect, wash, iron, and properly distribute hospital linens and patient garments.
- Accurately document waste disposal procedures and maintain proper inventory of cleaning agents and equipment.
- Minimum of a high school certificate (SSCE) with proven experience in housekeeping or commercial cleaning.
- Strong understanding of basic hygiene practices, infection control, and medical waste management.
- Ability to accurately measure and mix cleaning chemicals according to manufacturer instructions.
- Good communication skills in English, both written and verbal, with effective interpersonal abilities.
- Punctual, highly organized, and capable of working efficiently under pressure and in dusty environments.
