About the Role
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a passionate and driven Health Outreach Officer to join our dynamic humanitarian team in Anka. In this role, you will be instrumental in implementing and expanding quality, voluntary, and client-centered family planning services through mobile outreach, community-based platforms, and health facility linkages. You will work closely with community health workers and local government authorities to increase access to modern contraceptives, strengthen health systems, and promote sustainable reproductive health solutions in underserved communities.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and support regular family planning outreach activities in hard-to-reach communities, ensuring adherence to national guidelines and clinical standards.
- Promote a broad range of contraceptive methods, including short-acting methods, injectables, implants, and DMPA-SC self-injection services.
- Collaborate with community health workers, women groups, and local leaders to drive demand generation, dispel myths, and strengthen referral pathways.
- Manage outreach logistics, commodity supplies, and equipment while maintaining accurate records and reporting potential stock-outs promptly.
- Ensure strict compliance with infection prevention protocols, client confidentiality, informed consent, and respectful care standards.
- Collect, review, and analyze routine outreach data to track key indicators, identify service gaps, and contribute to regular program reports.
- Degree or diploma in Nursing, Midwifery, Public Health, Community Health, or a related field with a valid professional license.
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years of relevant professional experience in primary healthcare, family planning, or community health programming.
- Demonstrated experience supporting mobile outreach and working with government health systems or community health workers.
- Strong knowledge of modern contraceptive methods, client-centered care, and infection prevention practices.
- Full professional proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with fluency in English and Hausa required.
- Ability to travel up to 10 percent of the time to field locations within Anka.
