About the Role
UNICEF operates in Nigeria to champion children's rights, meet basic needs, and expand opportunities for a brighter future. Our country programme accelerates the realization of survival, development, protection, and participation rights for women and children, focusing on reducing mortality rates, improving basic education, and strengthening child protection systems through a rights-based, gender-sensitive approach. We currently seek a dedicated Health Manager (P-4) to report to the Chief of Health and HIV, providing vital operational and technical leadership for the Maternal, Neonatal, Child, and Adolescent Health (MNCAH) portfolio.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the management, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of MNCAH outputs within the UNICEF Nigeria country programme.
- Provide expert technical guidance and operational support throughout the programming cycle using Results-Based Management (RBM) approaches.
- Support programme development, strategic planning, and the delivery of concrete, sustainable health results at federal, state, and local government levels.
- Build strategic partnerships, conduct high-level advocacy, and foster effective networking with governmental and non-governmental stakeholders.
- Drive innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building initiatives across health teams and partner networks.
- Advanced University Degree (Master's or equivalent) in Public Health, Pediatric Health, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Family Health, Global/International Health, Health Policy and/or Management, Epidemiology, or another relevant technical field.
- A minimum of eight years of professional experience in public health planning and management, maternal and neonatal health care, communicable diseases, or health emergency preparedness.
- Demonstrated expertise in monitoring and evaluation, strategic planning, advocacy, programme management, and partnership building.
- Fluency in English is strictly required; proficiency in local languages or another official UN language is a strong asset.
- Previous country-level experience in development, fragile settings, or humanitarian contexts, particularly within the UN system or global health initiatives.
