About the Role

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is a leading international research-for-development organization committed to solving hunger, malnutrition, and poverty in Africa. We are currently seeking a dynamic and results-driven Nigerian national to fill the position of Head, Project Coordination Unit at our vibrant headquarters in Ibadan.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and management of the Project Coordination Unit, ensuring alignment with organizational and facility management goals.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise all facility-related projects, overseeing scheduling, resource allocation, and budget monitoring.
  • Ensure effective communication among project teams, internal clients, contractors, and other key stakeholders throughout project lifecycles.
  • Implement project management best practices, including robust documentation, quality control, and change management processes.
  • Oversee project cost control and financial performance in collaboration with the Project Accountant and Quantity Surveyor.
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation plans to maintain high standards of safety, quality, and compliance such as ISO standards.
  • Coach, mentor, and evaluate the performance of project supervisors, quantity surveyors, and other team members.
  • Drive continuous improvement and digitalization initiatives, including the deployment of an Integrated Facilities Management System.
  • Represent the unit in senior management meetings and generate comprehensive high-level status and KPI reports.

Qualifications
  • Higher National Diploma (HND), Bachelor's degree (B.Sc.), or Advanced Diploma in Project Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • A Master's degree (M.Sc.) in Project Management is an added advantage.
  • Recognized professional project management certifications such as PMP or COREN are highly desirable.
  • 8 to 10 years of progressive experience managing multidisciplinary facilities or infrastructure projects, with proven leadership in construction or facilities management environments.
  • Strong competencies in financial budgeting, risk mitigation, stakeholder management, and team leadership.
