About the Role
Dangote Group is one of Africa's most diversified business conglomerates, renowned for excellence, quality products, and large-scale manufacturing operations across the continent. We are currently seeking a strategic and results-driven Head, Power Plant to join our dynamic technical team in Lagos, Nigeria. In this critical leadership role, you will direct the efficient operation and maintenance of our gas turbine-based power generation plant to ensure continuous, reliable power supply for our cement manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee daily power plant operations, maintenance, and adherence to strict company and industry safety standards.
- Manage gas supply operations and contracts with the Nigerian Gas Marketing Limited (NGML).
- Direct long-term service agreements with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) of gas turbine generators.
- Ensure full environmental compliance and uphold robust occupational health and safety policies across the plant.
- Coordinate plant maintenance planning and oversee the procurement of spare parts within budgetary limits.
- Control operational costs, verify and certify gas bills, and drive continuous performance improvement initiatives.
- Lead staff training, talent development, and overall departmental team management.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering (Power option), or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 20 years of proven operating experience in gas turbine-based power plants, with at least 5 years in a Head of Power Plant role.
- Demonstrated expertise in maximizing power output, plant availability, and operational efficiency.
- Strong commercial acumen in budget management, contract administration, and O&M cost control.
