About the Role
Wema Bank Plc is a leading commercial bank in Nigeria renowned for robust digital banking and innovative financial solutions. We are currently seeking a dynamic and results-driven Head of Public Sector, South Bank to spearhead our institutional business expansion across the South-South and Mid-West regions.
Key Responsibilities- Lead deposit mobilization and liquidity acquisition strategies targeting state governments, MDAs, local councils, and parastatals to achieve aggressive regional growth targets.
- Serve as the primary liaison with state executives, permanent secretaries, and key institutional decision-makers to negotiate high-value partnerships and IGR optimization services.
- Oversee the structuring and risk assessment of public-sector credit exposures, including ISPO-backed facilities, contract finance, and infrastructure financing.
- Drive operational efficiency and promote the adoption of digital banking and TSA-compliant solutions across all government accounts.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing regional public-sector team while ensuring strict compliance with regulatory standards and corporate governance.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Public Administration, Business, or related fields; a Master's degree or relevant professional certifications (ACIB, ICAN, PMP) will be an added advantage.
- 8 to 12 years of cognate experience in public-sector or corporate banking, with at least 5 years in a senior team leadership role.
- Deep understanding of Nigerian government financial operations, IGR processes, public-sector ecosystems, and liquidity management.
- Demonstrated track record of successfully closing high-value public-sector deals and driving business growth.
- Exceptional relationship management, negotiation, stakeholder influence, and strategic planning skills.
