About the Role

iRecruiters Africa is hiring a strategic Head of Finance for a rapidly growing downstream oil and gas client in Lagos, Nigeria. In this critical leadership role, you will oversee financial operations, internal controls, and reporting across nationwide petroleum retail service stations and haulage networks. You will ensure accurate daily financial closures, manage high-volume transaction reconciliations, and drive profitability across multiple business units.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership for finance and accounting functions across all nationwide retail outlets and operational locations.
  • Ensure accurate daily financial closure, timely posting, and comprehensive reconciliation of sales, cash, POS, and bank transfers.
  • Maintain rigorous financial controls over fuel sales, inventory movements, stock reconciliation, and shrinkage prevention.
  • Oversee management and financial reporting, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow forecasts, and operational dashboards.
  • Manage working capital, liquidity, tax compliance, and statutory obligations in alignment with Nigerian regulatory standards.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing finance team to support the company's aggressive expansion goals.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; mandatory ICAN or ACCA qualification.
  • 8 to 12+ years of progressive finance experience with significant senior management tenure in the downstream oil and gas sector.
  • Deep expertise in petroleum retail accounting, service station operations, inventory management, and haulage logistics.
  • Advanced proficiency in Sage accounting software and managing high-volume, multi-location financial transactions.
  • Strong working knowledge of Nigerian tax laws, statutory returns, and external audit coordination.
  • Exceptional analytical, commercial awareness, risk management, and leadership skills.
