About the Role

We are currently recruiting a dynamic and results-driven Head of Mining Operations on behalf of our client in the mining sector. This executive leadership role is pivotal in overseeing, optimizing, and coordinating daily alluvial mining site operations to achieve maximum efficiency, productivity, and safety.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, mentor, and manage multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and heavy equipment operations across remote mining sites.
- Oversee daily alluvial deposit exploitation, excavation, material handling, and mineral recovery processes.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), analyze operational data, and implement strategies to reduce costs and improve resource allocation.
- Ensure strict compliance with Nigerian mining regulations, environmental requirements, and occupational health and safety (HSE) standards.
- Manage supply chain logistics, inventory control, and daily stock-taking activities.
- Provide comprehensive daily operational and inventory reports to senior management.
- Drive continuous improvement by adopting industry best practices and innovative operational management systems.
- B.Sc. or B.Eng. in Mining Engineering, Geology, Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, or a related discipline (MBA or M.Sc. is an added advantage).
- 12 to 15+ years of overall mining experience, including substantial expertise in alluvial mining and mineral recovery.
- At least 5 years holding a senior leadership position such as Mine Manager, Operations Manager, General Manager, or Head of Mining Operations.
- Demonstrated technical competence in mine planning, gravity concentration, equipment utilization, and plant operations.
- Extensive experience working in West African or emerging-market mining environments.
