About the Role
Zipline is transforming global delivery through the world's largest autonomous network, making on-demand logistics a reality for millions. We are seeking a strategic Head of Logistics, Africa to oversee our comprehensive continental supply chain, ensuring seamless inbound freight, customs clearance, and inventory control across our operating countries including Rwanda, Ghana, Nigeria, and Cote d'Ivoire.
Key ResponsibilitiesManage the entire inbound supply chain into our operating and build sites, encompassing freight, ports, customs, regional spares warehouses, batteries, and construction materials.
- Establish robust corridor discipline by creating standing customs dossiers, pre-agreed HS classification catalogues, and standardized exemption processes.
- Implement transparent two-way service-level agreements with site operations and deployments teams at published transfer prices.
- Drive emergency air freight costs toward zero by optimizing buffer stock management and risk mitigation.
- Serve as the primary liaison between African operations and our global supply chain and production team in South San Francisco.
- Lead, mentor, and develop in-country logistics analysts while maintaining rigorous standards for customs valuation, documentation, and vendor reconciliation.
- 10 to 15 years of extensive experience managing complex, cross-border supply chains in Africa within FMCG, pharma, telecom, humanitarian, or freight forwarding sectors.
- Demonstrated expertise in West and East African customs regulations, corridor logistics, and declared-value compliance.
- Proven track record of publishing internal SLAs, eliminating emergency freight spend, and enforcing vendor accountability.
- Exceptional project management skills with the ability to drive multifaceted workstreams across cross-functional, remote teams.
