About the Role
Moniepoint is a financial technology company digitising Africa’s real economy by building a comprehensive financial ecosystem for businesses and consumers. We are looking for a visionary Head of Engineering to own the technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for our Rewards Platform end-to-end. In this high-impact role, you will report functionally to the Group CTO and collaborate closely with product leaders to build and scale our rewards, retention, and engagement initiatives across multiple African markets.
Key Responsibilities- Own the end-to-end technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for the Rewards Platform.
- Improve the performance, reliability, and depth of the existing cashback product as an immediate priority.
- Evolve cashback into a broader rewards, retention, engagement, and personalisation platform for businesses and consumers.
- Build and scale the engineering organisation by hiring, structuring product units, and developing Engineering Managers.
- Establish a strong experimentation culture leveraging A/B testing and cohort analysis to drive customer engagement.
- Partner with Growth, Sales, and Marketing to translate commercial objectives into robust engineering initiatives.
- Define architecture standards, engineering processes, and quality metrics to ensure operational excellence.
- 10+ years of overall software engineering experience, including at least 5 years managing managers.
- Demonstrated expertise in direct-to-consumer product engineering at scale with genuine front-end and mobile depth.
- Hands-on technical leadership capabilities with familiarity in backend environments like Java and Spring Boot.
- Proven track record of building and scaling high-performing engineering organisations from a small base.
- Strong background in experimentation, growth engineering, and running A/B testing frameworks.
- Experience in fintech, payments, loyalty, or gamification platforms is a distinct advantage.
