About the Role
Moniepoint Inc. is a leading financial technology company digitising Africa’s real economy by building an innovative financial ecosystem for businesses. Over 6 million merchants rely on our POS devices daily to accept payments, access credit, and manage their finances. We are looking for an exceptional Head of Engineering, POS Application Platform, to lead the foundational Kotlin-based engineering layer that sits beneath every POS product across multiple markets and device types.
Key Responsibilities- Own the technical strategy, architecture, and governance for the POS Application Platform across heterogeneous device fleets.
- Build and oversee core pillars including developer experience, platform reliability, foundational frameworks, and cross-squad adoption.
- Functionally lead and mentor POS engineers embedded across Payments, Onboarding, VAS, Savings, and Loans squads.
- Drive end-to-end POS observability, monitoring, alerting, and incident response frameworks.
- Collaborate with hardware teams and OEM partners to onboard and integrate new device variants seamlessly.
- Minimum of 10 years of hands-on software engineering experience, with at least 6 years in technical leadership roles.
- Direct, hands-on application layer engineering experience building software that runs directly on Point-of-Sale terminal devices.
- Strong working knowledge of EMV standards alongside payment certification processes such as PCI DSS and P2PE.
- Deep Android engineering expertise in Kotlin and Java for scalable mobile architectures.
- Proven track record of building internal engineering platforms, developer tooling, or shared SDKs.
