About the Role
Godfrey Okoye University Teaching Hospital (GOUNITH), formerly Ntasi Obi Hospital, is a premier institution dedicated to medical excellence, education, and compassionate patient care. We are currently seeking a dynamic and qualified Head of Department for Environmental Health, Sanitation and Works to oversee our facility's environmental standards and operational infrastructure.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs the Head of Department, you will manage sanitation protocols, environmental safety compliance, and infrastructural works within the hospital. Key duties include:
- Directing and supervising daily activities of the Environmental Health, Sanitation and Works department.
- Ensuring strict compliance with national environmental health standards and hospital regulatory policies.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to maintain a safe, clean, and hygienic clinical environment.
- Managing waste disposal systems, sanitation programs, and routine facility maintenance.
- Training, mentoring, and evaluating departmental staff to foster professional growth and operational efficiency.
To be considered for this leadership role, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- B.Sc or HND in Environmental Health Science with a minimum of 6 years post-qualification cognate experience.
- Possession of the West African Health Examination Board Certificate.
- Valid and current practicing license from the Environmental Health Council of Nigeria.
- Mandatory NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
- Strong ICT compliance and proficiency in modern workplace technology.
- Demonstrated integrity, leadership capabilities, and excellent interpersonal skills.
