About the Role
Moniepoint is a leading financial technology company digitizing Africa's real economy by building an all-encompassing financial ecosystem for businesses. We are currently looking for a strategic Head of Debt Collections to lead the architecture and execution of our debt collection framework. In this pivotal role, you will focus on minimizing Loss Given Default across both our business and consumer lending divisions, managing everything from digital-first retail portfolios to large-scale corporate financing.
Key Responsibilities- Design and implement a segmented debt collection framework spanning early-stage soft collections to legal recovery, restructuring, and write-offs.
- Define the organizational structure, recruit high-caliber talent, and deploy operational infrastructure including collections management systems and dialer tooling.
- Direct legal recovery strategies and manage high-level engagements with external counsel, law enforcement, and regulatory bodies in Nigeria.
- Establish performance frameworks, incentive structures, and continuous training programs to drive recovery rates and cost-to-collect efficiency.
- Provide comprehensive performance reporting to senior management and collaborate with credit, risk, and finance teams to align strategies.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 7 years of experience in credit and debt recovery, including senior leadership.
- Demonstrated expertise across both high-ticket corporate recovery and high-volume digital retail collections in the Nigerian market.
- Strong working knowledge of Nigerian debt recovery laws, banking regulations, and court procedures with a robust professional network.
- Proven experience scaling a recovery function, including organizational design, systems build-out, and national operations coverage.
