About the Role
GIG Logistics is Nigeria's leading logistics company, committed to providing cost-effective and timed delivery solutions that offer complete flexibility to our customers. We are currently looking for a strategic and results-driven Head of Brokerage to lead our customs brokerage operations, ensuring efficient import and export clearance, regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and oversee all customs brokerage operations, ensuring timely and compliant clearance of import and export shipments.
- Develop and implement brokerage strategies to improve operational efficiency, service delivery, and profitability.
- Ensure compliance with Nigeria Customs Service regulations and other applicable trade, port, and government agency requirements.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with regulatory agencies, shipping lines, terminal operators, and freight partners.
- Oversee customs documentation, tariff classification, valuation, duty assessment, and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor operational KPIs, cargo clearance timelines, and customer service performance, implementing improvements where necessary.
- Identify and mitigate compliance, operational, and commercial risks associated with brokerage activities.
- Collaborate with Sales, Freight Forwarding, Operations, Finance, and Customer Experience teams to deliver seamless logistics solutions.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Brokerage team to drive high performance and continuous improvement.
- Prepare management reports, operational analyses, and strategic recommendations to support business growth.
- Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Maritime Studies, Law, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in Customs Brokerage, Freight Forwarding, Shipping, International Trade, or Logistics, with at least 4 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of customs regulations, import and export procedures, tariff classification, valuation, and trade compliance.
- Proven experience managing customs clearance operations and engaging with regulatory authorities.
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and customs brokerage or ERP systems.
- Professional certifications in Customs Administration or Supply Chain Management will be an added advantage.
