About the Role
DHL, the most international company in the world operating in over 220 countries and territories, is seeking an experienced Head of Air Freight to join our team in Nigeria. In this critical leadership role, you will shape our country-level air freight strategy, drive operational excellence, and foster strategic partnerships with airlines and key stakeholders to deliver world-class logistics solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Lead AFR product and capacity management activities at the country level to achieve profitability and strategic goals.
- Determine and initiate plans for freight allocation and reservations on planned linehaul and flights to ensure optimal hub and operations performance.
- Lead the development and implementation of specialized air freight products for various customer segments, including perishables, pharmaceuticals, and aviation.
- Develop air freight carrier management plans, budgets, and productivity targets while negotiating competitive rates with airline suppliers.
- Build and secure strong business relationships with customers and airline partners.
- Provide expert advice on complex issues, benchmark industry standards, and introduce best practices to increase operational effectiveness and efficiency.
- Lead multiple teams of managers and directors, developing short to long-term talent and organizational strategies.
- Master's degree in a relevant field of study.
- More than 8 years of professional experience in air freight, logistics, or supply chain management, with significant leadership experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in carrier management, procurement strategy, and cross-functional stakeholder engagement.
