About the Role
The Dangote Group, Africa's leading diversified business conglomerate, is seeking an experienced and results-driven Head, Mines Operation to lead and manage large-scale mining activities in a highly productive and safety-conscious environment. In this vital leadership role, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient, safe, and cost-effective extraction of raw materials while meeting ambitious production targets, quality requirements, and rigorous regulatory standards across our operations.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all mining operations to support continuous plant production requirements.
- Develop and implement short- and long-term mine plans focused on cost leadership and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate all core mining activities, including drilling, blasting, excavation, haulage, and material handling.
- Monitor mining performance against approved budgets, production targets, and key operational performance indicators.
- Optimize equipment utilization and drive continuous improvement initiatives across all mining assets.
- Lead, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary teams of engineers, supervisors, technicians, and contractors.
- Ensure strict compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and statutory mining regulations in Nigeria.
- Collaborate with technical, maintenance, and executive management teams to achieve organizational business objectives.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 25 years of progressive experience in open-pit mining operations within the cement, quarrying, or heavy industrial sector.
- Demonstrated success in mine planning, large-scale production management, and executive operational leadership.
- Strong commercial acumen with proven expertise in cost optimization and resource allocation.
