About the Role

We are currently recruiting a qualified and dedicated Head of Medical Records for our client in Warri. In this pivotal role, you will lead the medical and health records function, ensuring that all health information is accurate, highly secure, and readily accessible to support clinical care, hospital governance, and managed-care processes across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and strictly confidential patient health records in compliance with industry standards.
  • Manage comprehensive records workflows including patient registration, retrieval, secure filing, clinical coding, and statutory retention.
  • Ensure uncompromising data protection and confidentiality in strict alignment with the Nigeria Data Protection Act and internal policies.
  • Support clinical care, billing, managed-care operations, and institutional reporting through the timely provision of health records.
  • Lead, supervise, and appraise records department staff while setting high performance and quality standards.
  • Contribute significantly to data quality assurance, internal audits, and continuous healthcare service improvement.
  • Prepare for and respond effectively to regulatory, quality, audit, and accreditation reviews.
Qualifications
  • Possession of a recognized qualification in Health Information Management (e.g., BSc in Health Information Management, HND, or Diploma in Health Records).
  • Successful completion of required internship, professional registration training, and NYSC, or a valid exemption certificate.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive post-registration experience in health information and records management, including strong supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrable leadership experience in coordinating a multidisciplinary health records team within a hospital setting.
  • Strong knowledge of health information management best practices, clinical coding (such as ICD), and data-protection obligations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and effective communication skills for collaborating with clinical and administrative colleagues.
