About the Role
Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc, a leading brand in the Nigerian insurance sector with regional presence, is seeking a strategic and experienced Head, Financial Reporting Unit to join our dynamic finance team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the preparation of accurate financial statements, spearhead IFRS 17 execution, and ensure strict compliance with regulatory standards while leading a high-performing accounting team.
Key Responsibilities- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements preparation under IFRS, IFRS 17, and NAICOM standards.
- Oversee the end-to-end reporting close process, including journals, accruals, provisions, general ledger, and trial balances.
- Coordinate timely submissions to NAICOM, FIRS, and other relevant regulatory bodies.
- Direct external audit engagements, working papers, and resolution of audit matters.
- Strengthen Internal Controls Over Financial Reporting (ICFR) and optimize balance sheet substantiation.
- Serve as a key financial reporting partner to the CFO while coaching and developing the financial reporting team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Mandatory professional certification such as ACA or ACCA.
- 7 to 10+ years of finance and accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong technical proficiency in IFRS, IFRS 17, ERP software, and advanced Excel.
- Demonstrated experience within the insurance sector is highly preferred.
