On behalf of our esteemed healthcare client, we are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Head of Family Medicine/GP to join their healthcare leadership team in Lagos. In this vital role, you will shape the standard of healthcare delivery, ensuring patients receive compassionate, safe, and effective medical care across all touchpoints.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs the Head of Family Medicine/GP, you will spearhead both clinical excellence and administrative efficiency. Your core duties will include:
- Set, maintain, and audit standards of clinical care, patient safety, and governance across the department.
- Organize medical staffing, rotas, clinics, and ward cover to guarantee seamless continuity and superior quality of care.
- Lead the diagnosis and management of complex cases, delivering expert clinical decision-making and referral oversight.
- Supervise, mentor, appraise, and support the professional development of consultants, medical officers, and trainees.
- Collaborate effectively with diagnostics, pharmacy, nursing, and HMO/managed-care processes.
- Contribute actively to service planning, resource management, and hospital-wide quality-improvement initiatives.
To be considered for this leadership position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Possess a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS or MBChB) from a recognized institution.
- Hold a valid registrable postgraduate specialist qualification (Fellowship) in the relevant discipline.
- Demonstrate a minimum of 8 to 10 years of post-fellowship specialist experience.
- Have at least 2 years of proven experience in a departmental leadership or senior supervisory role.
- Strong working knowledge of family medicine, clinical governance, and patient safety protocols.
- Excellent communication, teaching, and interpersonal skills.
