About the Role
Open Access Consulting is a professional services firm dedicated to delivering strategic solutions in human capital development, expatriate and immigration services, recruitment, background check services, value-added consulting, and outsourcing services. We are currently seeking a meticulous and driven Head, Control & Audit to provide daily independent checks on our client's banking operations. In this vital role, you will perform transaction call-overs, test operational controls, count cash, and flag exceptions to prevent fraud and ensure financial integrity within the financial services sector.
Key Responsibilities- Call over 100% of the previous day's transaction tickets against system postings each morning and raise exceptions immediately.
- Conduct surprise till and vault cash counts at least weekly and on a random basis.
- Review general ledger, suspense, and income accounts for unusual entries or ageing items.
- Verify newly disbursed loans for documentation completeness, approval limits, and credit policy adherence.
- Spot-check thrift collectors' remittances against application records and periodically visit routes to confirm customer balances.
- Test operational controls including dual custody, password discipline, mandate verification, and cheque handling.
- Investigate fraud alerts, cash shortages, and policy breaches, documenting findings with concrete evidence.
- Issue daily and weekly exception reports to the Managing Director and track the closure of every audit finding.
- Support external auditors and CBN examiners while following up on the implementation of their recommendations.
- Bachelor's degree or HND in Accounting, Banking and Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Professional certification or part-qualification in ICAN, ACCA, or CIA is a distinct advantage; CIBN MCP is highly desirable.
- 5 to 10 years of robust experience in internal control, internal audit, or banking operations within a financial institution.
- Comprehensive understanding of Microfinance Bank processes and Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) prudential requirements.
