About the Role
The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is an independent humanitarian organization providing assistance, protection, and durable solutions to refugees and internally displaced persons worldwide. We are currently seeking an experienced Global Risk & Compliance Advisor to provide expert advice on the development and operationalization of NRC’s risk management framework and support management teams in addressing complex, high-risk operational issues.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert advice to management groups in assigned country offices and regional teams on identifying, assessing, monitoring, and managing operational and enterprise risks.
- Advise on high-risk issues, risk management strategies, mitigations, key internal controls, and the escalation of critical risks.
- Support global functions in developing risk management procedures, mainstreaming external requirements, and ensuring coherence with internal control frameworks.
- Assist country offices with solving issues related to risk management, data protection, anti-corruption, and sanctions or counter-terrorism requirements.
- Design and deliver training programs to build staff capacity in risk and compliance standards, systems, and best practices.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of organization-wide policies, procedures, tools, and digital systems for fraud prevention and quality assurance.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in a risk and compliance function within an international organization, or in auditing, monitoring, evaluation, or support functions within the humanitarian sector.
- Demonstrated track record of achieving measurable results related to risk management and compliance responsibilities.
- University degree in risk management, compliance, internal audit, law, or another relevant field is considered a strong asset.
- Fluency in English (written and verbal) is required; proficiency in French will be given significant weight during assessment.
- Direct knowledge of the regulatory context for INGOs in Central and West Africa or other regions where NRC operates.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative, practical approach to solving complex operational challenges.
- Preferred duty station in Dakar, with alternative options available in Oslo, Goma, and Abuja.
