About the Role
Daniel Joseph Academy, a prestigious full-boarding, co-educational secondary school located in Ikot Akan, Akwa Ibom State, is seeking a passionate and qualified Geography Teacher. In this role, you will inspire students by bringing the physical and human world to life through dynamic classroom instruction, fostering critical thinking, and promoting environmental awareness. As a vital member of our academic staff, you will contribute to the holistic development of our students within a supportive and structured boarding school community.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and comprehensive Geography lessons in accordance with the Nigerian secondary school curriculum.
- Develop and implement innovative teaching methods and instructional materials to cater to diverse learning styles.
- Assess, monitor, and record student progress, providing constructive feedback and organizing regular examinations.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and stimulating learning environment that encourages active student participation.
- Participate in curriculum development, departmental meetings, and school-wide extracurricular activities and boarding duties.
- Counsel and mentor students to support their academic growth, personal development, and career aspirations.
- Possess a minimum of a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) or a Bachelor's degree (B.Sc, B.A) in Geography or a related field; a postgraduate diploma in education is an added advantage.
- Demonstrated teaching experience within a reputable secondary school setting, preferably in a boarding school environment.
- Deep knowledge of geographical concepts, mapping skills, and current environmental issues.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
- Proficiency in integrating educational technology into daily lesson delivery.
