About the Role

The Youth and Women Peacebuilding Foundation (YAWP Foundation) is a dynamic Nigerian non-profit dedicated to building lasting peace and empowering vulnerable communities. We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Gender, Protection, and Peacebuilding Officer to join our team on a volunteer basis. In this role, you will design, execute, and monitor integrated programming that protects vulnerable populations while promoting inclusive peacebuilding processes grounded in international standards and UN resolutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Map local protection risks, Gender-Based Violence (GBV) patterns, and harmful practices within target conflict zones.
  • Establish and maintain confidential referral pathways for survivors of GBV and human rights violations in project locations.
  • Facilitate gender-responsive conflict analyses to ensure women, youth, and marginalized groups actively shape local peacebuilding strategies.
  • Integrate gender-sensitive indicators into community early warning and early response mechanisms to track risk signals.
  • Conduct gender and protection audits across all project activities to ensure safe access, dignity, and non-discrimination for all beneficiaries.
  • Represent the organization in local Protection Clusters, GBV Sub-Clusters, and Peacebuilding Working Groups.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of an HND or BSc Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Gender Studies, Community Development, International Development, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in program coordination or a similar humanitarian or peacebuilding role.
  • Strong knowledge of international frameworks such as UNSCR 1325 (WPS), UNSCR 2250 (YPS), and CEDAW.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with high standards of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and relevant digital tools such as KoboToolbox.
