About the Role
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is seeking a dedicated and experienced Gardener 1 to join our facilities team in Nigeria. In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining the aesthetic appeal, safety, and cleanliness of our landscaped areas, walkways, and building entrances. Key Responsibilities- Mow lawns using hand and power mowers, and maintain the original landscape plan by planting perennials, shrubs, and trees.
- Trim and edge around walls, flower beds, and walks using hand clippers and power edging tools.
- Operate heavy tractors and other large power equipment safely to maintain expansive landscape areas.
- Prune and shape shrubs and trees to promote optimum plant growth and enhance overall property beauty.
- Apply approved treatments for disease, weed, and insect control, and perform regular fertilization in compliance with local regulations.
- Ensure all power equipment and machinery receive proper routine maintenance and servicing.
- Water lawn and garden areas adequately and provide helpful guidance to volunteers assisting with grounds maintenance.
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience in grounds maintenance, horticulture, landscaping, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of various plants, fertilizers, and pest control methods.
- Proficiency in operating light machinery and basic familiarity with computer applications.
- Excellent physical fitness with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform demanding outdoor tasks.
- Outstanding communication skills in fluent English with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Minimum of a Senior High School (SHS) certificate or educational equivalent.
