About the Role

VFD Group is an alternative financial services holding company that creates value by working within Nigeria’s informal financial sector to create innovative products and solutions accessible to the everyday Nigerian. We are currently seeking a meticulous and driven Finance Associate to join our growing team in Lagos. In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting financial reporting, budgeting, reconciliations, and regulatory compliance to drive effective business decision-making across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and management schedules.
  • Maintain precise accounting records, perform general ledger, bank, and intercompany account reconciliations, and assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Participate in annual budgeting, periodic forecasting, performance monitoring, and the creation of budget variance reports.
  • Assist in preparing and submitting regulatory returns while ensuring compliance with applicable financial regulations and internal policies.
  • Support tax compliance activities, document preparation for tax filings, and coordinate with internal and external auditors.
  • Conduct basic financial analysis, identify trends and variances, and manage finance-related systems such as the Expense Portal.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Professional qualification or progress towards ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent is an added advantage.
  • 2 to 4 years of relevant experience in finance, accounting, financial reporting, or audit, ideally within financial services or banking.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, budgeting, and month-end closing procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting or ERP systems.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, high attention to detail, and proven ability to meet tight reporting deadlines.
