About the Role

Data Lead Africa is seeking detail-oriented and dedicated Field Enumerators to support an upcoming comprehensive agricultural and socio-economic research study in Plateau State. In this role, you will play a vital part in collecting reliable data on agricultural production, rural incomes, farming practices, nutrition, and youth and women inclusion. Ideal candidates possess deep familiarity with local Plateau communities, speak the predominant local languages fluently, and demonstrate a strong commitment to research ethics and data accuracy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Attend and successfully complete all mandatory enumerator training sessions and field practices.
  • Conduct face-to-face interviews with farmers, agricultural value-chain actors, and rural households using smartphones or tablets.
  • Obtain informed consent from all participants while strictly protecting respondent privacy and confidentiality.
  • Administer digital questionnaires accurately via mobile platforms, capturing precise GPS coordinates when required.
  • Transcribe, translate, and review completed interviews for accuracy and completeness prior to submission.
  • Collaborate with field supervisors to plan daily itineraries, troubleshoot challenges, and adhere to safety protocols.
Qualifications
  • University degree in Agricultural Science, Economics, Statistics, Data Science, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting field surveys, quantitative data collection, or rural research interviews.
  • Practical proficiency with mobile data collection tools such as KoboToolbox, ODK, or Survey Solutions.
  • Fluent in English and at least one predominant local language spoken in Plateau State.
  • Willingness and physical stamina to travel extensively to remote and rural communities for fieldwork.
