About the Role
Obafemi Awolowo University, a prestigious public institution renowned for academic and research excellence, is seeking a reliable and hardworking Farm Assistant to join its vibrant community at the Teaching and Research Farm in Ile-Ife, Osun State. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting daily agricultural activities, crop production, and livestock management, contributing directly to the university's agricultural research and practical training programs.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in daily farm operations including planting, weeding, harvesting, and general crop maintenance.
- Feed, monitor, and provide basic care for livestock and poultry housed at the research farm.
- Operate, maintain, and ensure the proper storage of basic farm tools, equipment, and machinery.
- Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and other farm inputs under the supervision of agricultural officers.
- Keep accurate daily records of farm activities, crop yields, and livestock inventory.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized working environment across all farm facilities.
- Minimum of three O'Level credits obtained at one sitting, or five credits at two sittings, which must include English Language and a relevant agricultural science subject.
- At least three (3) years of cognate working experience in a recognized farm or agricultural setting.
- Basic understanding of modern farming techniques, crop husbandry, and animal care.
- Ability to perform physical tasks and work effectively outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
