About the Role
Iconic Open University, a leading private Open and Distance Learning (ODL) institution licensed by the National Universities Commission (NUC), is seeking suitably qualified academics to serve as External Examiners for our Nursing Science undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. In this vital role, you will help us maintain the highest standards of academic quality, integrity, and excellence across our curriculum.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate and moderate examination questions, project reports, and dissertations to ensure academic standards meet national and international benchmarks.
- Review curriculum content, course materials, and assessment methods within the Nursing Science department.
- Submit comprehensive annual reports to the University Senate regarding student performance, grading rigor, and overall programme quality.
- Participate in virtual moderation sessions and academic quality assurance reviews as required.
- Must hold a minimum of a Ph.D. Degree in Nursing Science or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Academic rank of Senior Lecturer, Reader, or Professor (preferred for postgraduate supervision).
- Demonstrated track record of postgraduate supervision and research publications in reputable, peer-reviewed journals.
- Prior experience as an external examiner at recognized tertiary institutions.
- Must be entirely independent of Iconic Open University with no conflicts of interest, such as recent employment or close relationships with current staff and students.
- Familiarity with Open and Distance Learning (ODL) environments and e-assessment platforms is a strong advantage.
