About the Role
Iconic Open University, a leading NUC-licensed private open and distance learning institution in Nigeria, invites applications from qualified academics to serve as External Examiner for our Health Information Management programmes. In this critical role, you will help us maintain the highest standards of academic quality, integrity, and excellence across our undergraduate and postgraduate offerings.
Key Responsibilities- Review and moderate examination questions, continuous assessment papers, and grading schemes to ensure academic rigor and alignment with curriculum objectives.
- Assess and grade undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations, theses, and final examination scripts to guarantee fair and consistent evaluation.
- Evaluate course materials, syllabi, and curriculum structures, providing constructive feedback for continuous academic improvement.
- Submit comprehensive annual reports to the University Senate detailing the quality of assessments, student performance standards, and recommendations.
- Participate in virtual moderation meetings and academic quality assurance reviews as required by the institution.
- Must not be below the academic rank of Senior Lecturer; Readers and Professors are strongly preferred for postgraduate supervision.
- Possession of a minimum of a Ph.D. Degree in Health Information Management or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated expertise with a robust track record of research publications in reputable, peer-reviewed journals within the last three years.
- Prior experience as an external examiner at recognized tertiary institutions is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with Open and Distance Learning (ODL) environments, e-assessment, and virtual examination platforms.
- Must be entirely independent of Iconic Open University with no conflicts of interest, such as recent employment, reciprocal arrangements, or close personal ties to staff and students.
