About the Role
Dangote Group, Africa's leading diversified business conglomerate, is looking for a skilled and safety-conscious Excavator Operator to join our dynamic operations at DCML in Ankpa, Kogi State. In this role, you will be responsible for driving heavy equipment productivity, ensuring safe material handling, and supporting our large-scale manufacturing and mining operations across Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities- Operate excavators safely and efficiently for digging, excavation, loading, trenching, and material handling activities.
- Carry out assigned earthmoving and excavation tasks in strict compliance with operational requirements.
- Conduct routine pre-start and post-operation inspections of the excavator to ensure optimal working conditions.
- Monitor equipment health and promptly report faults, mechanical defects, or maintenance needs to the supervisor.
- Ensure proper positioning and safe maneuvering of heavy machinery within busy and designated work areas.
- Maintain high situational awareness regarding personnel, vehicles, and potential hazards in the operating environment.
- Comply fully with all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) guidelines and standard operating procedures.
- Keep the assigned equipment clean, secure, and well-maintained at all times.
- Minimum of Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or equivalent educational qualification.
- Trade Test Certificate I, II, or III in a relevant technical or vocational discipline is an added advantage.
- Valid Class H Driver's License is mandatory for this role.
- 3 to 8 years of proven experience operating excavators within mining, quarrying, construction, cement, or heavy industrial environments.
- Strong working knowledge of excavator controls, earthmoving techniques, and basic mechanical troubleshooting.
