About the Role

UPDC Plc, a premier institutional property company listed on the Nigerian Exchange, is seeking a meticulous and driven Estate Accountant to oversee the financial operations of our residential estates. In this vital role, you will ensure the accurate recording of estate income and expenditures, monitor service charge collections, and maintain robust financial controls while collaborating closely with our estate management and finance teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records for all estate-related transactions, income, and operating expenses.
  • Manage service charge billings and collections, monitor outstanding balances, and reconcile receipts with bank statements.
  • Perform regular bank and cash reconciliations, ensuring proper documentation and prompt deposit of all cash collections.
  • Prepare comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including detailed budget variance analyses.
  • Ensure strict adherence to company financial policies, statutory requirements, and internal control frameworks.
  • Collaborate with the Estate Manager to review financial aspects of maintenance, utilities, security, and other vendor services.
  • Support internal and external audit processes by providing well-organized schedules and documentation.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Active professional accounting qualification such as ICAN, ACCA, or an approved equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience within property management, real estate, or facility management environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in accounts payable, receivables, bank reconciliations, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in utilizing modern accounting software and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
