About the Role

HBM Nigeria Plc (formerly Lafarge), a leader in building solutions and a member of the LafargeHolcim group, is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Environmental Manager. In this role, you will spearhead our sustainability initiatives, ensure strict adherence to local and international environmental regulations, and minimize the ecological footprint of our cement manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure adherence to HBM Nigeria safety and environmental standards among employees and contractors.
  • Manage the performance of the environment department, driving KPIs and fostering a motivating work environment.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with bodies like NESREA and FMEnv, managing environmental permits and audits.
  • Analyze plant operations to minimize environmental impacts and maintain an effective Environmental Management System (ISO 14001).
  • Drive initiatives related to alternative fuels, raw materials (AFR), biodiversity management, and quarry rehabilitation.
  • Collaborate with community relations and process teams to manage stakeholder expectations and achieve environmental KPIs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in environmental management within heavy industries such as cement, manufacturing, or mining.
  • Deep knowledge of ISO 14001:2015, EIA, EMP, and Nigerian environmental laws (NESREA, FMEnv).
  • Proven expertise in air pollution control, waste management, GHG protocols, and wastewater treatment.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and audit coordination skills.
